Explore the Silent Plains with Wanni — your Storyteller, Driver, and Friend. An eco-conscious expedition through Sri Lanka’s highest wilderness.

A Journey, Not Just a Tour

Horton Plains Cloud Forest Expeditions with Wanni

I’m Wanni, a hospitality professional who traded the boardroom for the mist-covered peaks. I believe travel is about context. As your storyteller, I bridge the gap between you and the ancient legends of the plains.

Beyond the driving and the history, I am here as your friend on the trail. We use smaller, quieter vehicles to ensure the sounds of the forest remain the soundtrack to your journey. We are guests in this sensitive cloud forest, and we act like it.

Here, you aren’t just a visitor; you are a guest of the mountains, and I am honored to be your guide through them.

Landscape Photography Upgrade

Landscape Photography in Horton Plains

The Art of the Golden Hour: Capture the highlands when the light is at its most dramatic. This upgrade focuses on specialized timing and deliberate stops at hidden vantage points both inside and outside the park. We don’t just visit the sights; we wait for the perfect alignment of mist, shadow, and sun to ensure you leave with a portfolio of timeless mountain imagery.

Leopard Expedition Upgrade

Leopard Expeditions in Horton Plains

The Ghost of the Plains A dedicated, 12-hour immersion for those with the soul of an explorer. By extending our stay in the park, we prioritize the “blue hours” when the highland leopard is most active along the forest fringes. This experience is built on a foundation of deep patience and our local tracking experience, offering you the best possible window into the secret life of the plateau’s apex predator.

Wanni’s Tips for the Trail

Food Inside : There are no enough food choices in the park! Better have packed breakfast or you’ll settle with what’s available.

Budgeting for the Gates: The National Park entrance fee is approximately 40 USD per person. Please ensure you have the equivalent in local currency (LKR) ready, as this is paid directly to the wildlife department at the gate.

Beat the Mist: We start at 5:00 AM to reach the drop-offs before the 10:00 AM mist rolls in.

Be Prepared: It gets cold! Please bring a warm jacket and sturdy walking shoes.

Plastic-Free: This is a zero-plastic zone. I’ll help you ensure your gear meets park regulations.

Facilities on the Plains: While we are in the heart of the wilderness, there are toilets available at the main park center and car park. I’ll make sure we stop there before we begin our 9km nature loop.

Age Considerations: To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all guests on this high-altitude trek, this experience is curated for children aged 10 and above. The 9km trail requires a level of stamina best suited for older children and adults.

Pack Your Camera: Whether you are an enthusiast or just want to capture the memories, don’t forget to pack your cameras and ensure your batteries are fully charged. Between the “Pygmy Forests” and the World’s End drop-off, you’ll want every megapixel available.

Let’s Plan Your Journey Above the Clouds.

Every sunrise over the plains is different, and I want to ensure yours is perfect. Because I strictly limit my schedule to 3 exclusive journeys per week, I encourage you to reach out early.
